Cyclists coming to Reeth will experience stunning scenery, breath taking landscapes, quiet roads and off road tracks. Our guests like to challenge themselves to the Tour de France route and Tour de Yorkshire routes. The scenic Buttertubs pass is nearby. If you are bringing a bicycle we have a lockable garage for secure storage. Perhaps you would like to hire a bike from the Dales Bike Centre. Cycling enthusiasts may be keen to experience the Yorkshire Dales cycleway route. It is a challenging 210km (130 mile) circular route visiting most of the major dales in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The best way to experience the stunning scenery and wildlife that Swaledale has to offer is to walk the many footpaths in the area. A popular choice is a short circular walk from Reeth crossing the swing bridge and back into the village via Grinton. There are plenty more circular walks for all abilities and fitness levels. Reeth is directly on the Coast to Coast path and the Herriot Way. Reeth is adjacent to the Pennine Way and the Dales Way. The Buck Hotel, Reeth is included in Mark Reid's famous Inn Way. Why not start and finish the Herriot Way in Reeth where there are plenty of things to do and see.
In May/June every year, Reeth becomes the hub of the Swaledale Festival, a two-week celebration of small-scale music and guided walks. At the beginning of August the fast growing and popular Ard Rock Enduro Mountain Bike festival is based in Reeth. Each August Bank Holiday Monday is the Reeth Show, a traditional Dales Agricultural Show which is a great family day out.
